1) How do you see this recruiting class shaping up in terms of how it will impact next year’s team?
We are extremely pleased with the additions of Kyan Anderson and Markus Crider to our team. We were fortunate to be able to gain commitments from two individuals that were recruited at the highest level and had multiple offers from Big Ten and Big 12 conference teams. I believe we will have one of the deepest and hardest working teams that PC has had in the years to come due greatly to the quality of our new additions. I couldn’t be more excited about how Kyan and Markus will fit within our team. I believe our fans will enjoy seeing them in the Black & White of Providence.
2) Tell us your thoughts on Kyan Anderson? What are his strengths?
Kyan Anderson is exactly what a coach would look for in a point guard. He has the speed to play an up-tempo game on the offensive end and the lateral quickness to guard the best players in the BIG EAST. Kyan has an ability to lead a team by running the offense, but can also score the ball as well when called upon. I think of Kyan much the way I think of Vincent Council as a point guard, and that is great news for our future success.
3) Tell us your thoughts on Markus Crider? What are his strengths?
Markus Crider is one of those players that makes coaching look easy because of his ability to fill up a stat sheet. He has the size, strength and athleticism to play immediately in the BIG EAST with an upside of playing basketball beyond Providence. When you add in that I had him rated as the best defensive player at his position that we were recruiting, you know you have a special player.
4) Are you still recruiting for next year’s freshman class?
We are always recruiting. We are recruiting for the short-term as well as for the long-term success of our program. For us to win and win consistently we must have better talent than those teams that are routinely in the top half of the BIG EAST and top 20 of the country. We have not reached our goal yet of consistent success, but we are closer than most people realize.
