The Providence Basketball team will start the season tomorrow night against Dartmouth at the Dunkin Donuts Center. We are excited about our program because of the combination of talent and youth of our student-athletes. We will have the majority of our players in our program returning for the next three seasons as we have just two upper classmen this season in Marshon Brooks and Ray Hall. With such a young team our focus is on keeping a high level of work ethic and improving everyday knowing we can be a much better team as the season progresses.
Although we have many first year players, I will give you a few things to look for from a few of our returners:
1. 1. Can Marshon Brooks become an All-Big East conference player? This challenge is not to be one of the top scorers in the league, but rather to be an all-around player that can be rated highly in all categories such as defense, assists, and rebounding.
2. 2. How will Vincent Council’s sophomore season compare with his freshman year? If Vincent Council can top the conference in assists, he will get the national recognition that he deserves as one of the best point guards in the country.
3. 3. How good of a rebounder can Bilal Dixon be this year? Although this year’s PC team has depth on the inside, it does not have experience. Can Bilal provide some of the experience with being a consistent force on the boards?
