Friar Events
Preseason Nearly Complete
November 9, 2009 |

Our exhibition season is over as we came away with two victories, 97-74 over Merrimack and 91-55 over Stonehill. We were led in those games by a couple of our returning players in MarShon Brooks and Jamine Peterson. The fans attending those games saw the up-tempo type of basketball that Providence will soon be known for. Although our scoring was effective, I am most excited about the depth of this year’s team (we were able to play twelve players the majority of the minutes during our exhibition games).
The regular season opens up for us this weekend with games verses Bryant, Bucknell, and Mercer.

Great First Step Against Merrimack on Halloween

Thanks to those of you that attended our game versus Merrimack on Halloween. It was the first game played at Alumni Hall since Providence faced the Russian National Team in an exhibition on January 22, 1978. We ended up coming out on top 97-74 due to the athleticism and depth of this year’s team. More importantly, we gained some experience for our new players and showed necessary improvement from last week’s Mal Brown scrimmage. We return to “The Dunk” on Saturday in our final tune-up versus talented Stonehill College.
Thanks again for all the support from our Friar fans across the country!
All the Best,
Keno Davis
