Holiday Break

December 23, 2009 | Written By: Keno Davis

We have finished the non-conference part of our schedule with an 8-4 record. Matching last year's team record in the non-conference is impressive when you take into account the nine new faces on the court.  Let's review where we are from a statistical stand point at this time of year:

Statistic Last Year This Year
Scoring Offense 34 11
Scoring Defense 256 284
Scoring Margin 109 74
FG % 143 206
FG % Defense 227 136
3PT FG Per Game 181 25
3PT FG % 264 164
3PT FG Defense 165 51
FT % 188 147
Rebound Margin 73 21
Assists Per Game 136 123
A/TO Ratio 129 61
Blocked Shots 184 36
Steals 91 87
Turnovers 147 50
Turnover Margin 79 169
Fouls Per Game 54 266

In the seventeen NCAA categories we have improved in thirteen and down in four.  On the negative side, our aggressiveness has led to more fouling - which we are currently working on in practice.

Final Exams

December 15, 2009 | Written By: Keno Davis

It is finals week on the PC campus, where our student-athletes are working hard on their studies. We are off to a 7-4 start, one win behind last year's 8-4 non-conference mark. With our final non-conference game against Yale on Monday, December 21st we have some time to prepare for the always tough BIG EAST conference.

We have made solid progress as one can see when you compare last year's statistics with this team. As always, we are focused on effort and improvement. If we continue to do that, the wins and losses will take care of themselves.

Although I'm not allowed to give out specifics regarding our recruiting, I'm very pleased with the talent and character level of recruits we are involved with. In order for us to compete nationally, we must always look to improve in all areas of our program, and recruiting is always in the conversation.

Thanks for all your support of our program and continue to check-in at www.coachkenodavis.com.

Three Games in Six Days

December 6, 2009 | Written By: Keno Davis

We are entering a tough week with a 5-3 record and games against Brown, George Washington, and Iona. Our staff is working hard on our schedule and expect to hear some news on this website in the near future.

Both Providence and Brown will have quick turn-arounds by playing on Monday night at "The Dunk." We are looking forward to every game as an opportunity to improve and prepare ourselves for the always tough BIG EAST schedule.

We have shown great improvement in many areas from last year and continue to work for bigger and better things in the future. It's an exciting time to be a fan of Providence College Basketball and I appreciate your support!

All the Best,

Keno Davis
