Six games into the regular season we find ourselves with a respectable 4-2 record. Our two losses to Boston College and Alabama were tough ones in that we had the lead in both games with under two minutes to play.
Our team has the opportunity to improve greatly this year as six of our twelve scholarship players are freshmen. The demanding non-conference schedule we have this year, including four road contests, should prepare our young players for the BIG EAST conference.
We have two tough road games coming up this week (Tuesday at Northeastern and Saturday at Rhode Island). I know our players are looking forward to the challenge and the rest of the season!

After two weeks of the regular season, we are 3-1 with games against Vermont and Boston College upcoming. Although the final minute of our game at Alabama was disappointing, I believe we will become a better team from the experience.
Our opportunity to win games this year will come from our depth and ability to play an up-tempo style. It is for this reason that it is essential that our younger players improve each week of the year as there aren't any easy games in the BIG EAST conference.

Three victories in three days resulted in winning the World Vision Invitational to open the season. Our victories came against Bryant 96-53, Bucknell 76-65, and Mercer 79-77. Although none of the teams were in mid-season form, there was great effort by all the teams throughout the weekend.
We have three days to prepare to play our first road game at Alabama. It will be a good test for our young team to be able to play with the same intensity we showed in front of our home fans. In addition we will be working on improving our execution on offense, deffense and special situations. Hopefully starting off 3-0 gives us added motivation to improve as a team.
Thanks for checking out the weekly blog and keep an eye out for upcoming videos from my radio and television show.
Go Friars!

Our exhibition season is over as we came away with two victories, 97-74 over Merrimack and 91-55 over Stonehill. We were led in those games by a couple of our returning players in MarShon Brooks and Jamine Peterson. The fans attending those games saw the up-tempo type of basketball that Providence will soon be known for. Although our scoring was effective, I am most excited about the depth of this year’s team (we were able to play twelve players the majority of the minutes during our exhibition games).
The regular season opens up for us this weekend with games verses Bryant, Bucknell, and Mercer.
